at rank 6 of all siblings in Gao-yao County, Guang-zhou Province.

Went
to the first school - the Chi-ing primary school. |
|
1922 |
Transferred
to another public senior school and made contact with music for the
first time by mimicking a teacher playing the organ. Started learning
English there. Due to the warlords starting armed rebellions, his family
moved to Guang-zhou to stay with his big sister. |

1923 |
Studied
at an experimental primary school supervised by a teachers’ college,
and soon jumped to year 5 thanks to excellent academic performance.
Fourth elder brother died of plague. |

1925 |
Graduated
from primary school. |
|
1928 |
Graduated
from the high school supervised by the National Sun Yat-sen University,
and admitted to go to a preparatory arts school at that university. |
|
1930 |
Moved
up to be collegian at the Department of Education, Faculty of Arts. |
|
1931 |
Shaken by the Nine-One-Eight Battle, decided to use music as
a tool of education. Started learning composition skills, practising
hard at playing the piano and violin. Involved in a new music movement. |

1934 |
Graduated
from university. Became a teacher at Hi-nan First school, Nan-hai
County. Once a week, went to Guang-zhou by train to study piano-playing
from Prof. Yu-ye Lee. Even
went to Hong Kong to learn Violin-playing from a Russian Master, named
Tonoff. |

1935 |
8-year-war
against Japan’s aggression began. Composed fighting songs against
Japanese aggression and travelled to many places, even into the
countryside to teach people these songs accompanied with violin. |

1939 |
Invited to be a music teacher working for a team for
training cadre members. Later, back to teach at Teachers College, Sun
Yat-sen University, Arts College, 8 years.

back’, ‘An azalea’, ‘Mu-lan words’, ‘My home in Guang-zhou’, ‘Moon song’. |

1942 |
Headed
a music camp, held by four Provinces – Kwangtung, Kwangsi, Hunan,
Kiangsi - assembling 2000 people. |

1949 |
Whole
family moved to Hong Kong and taught at De-ming High School and Zhu-hai
College. |

1951 |
Mother
died. |

1952 |
Invited
to Taiwan to perform for the first time. |
|
1955 |
In
Hong Kong, obtained violin teacher certificate of Royal Music College of
UK. Some representative
works: ‘Black fog’, ‘Soft Smile’, ‘Autumn night’, ‘Cold
night’, ‘North wind’, ‘Love
for mother country’. Promised Expatriate Committee to perform in
Thailand and arranged an Emperor’s music ‘A light rain’ to a
variation. Wife and daughters emigrated to America. |

Composed
the music to go with the words of a song by President Gai-shi JIANG
‘Praising the Republic of China’, and on 26th March
performed the song ‘While rosy clouds all over the sky’ composed
in co-operation with Ms Mei-yin ZHONG for the first time. |

1957 |
Went
to Rome to be a student of Prof. Franco Margoia at the National Music
College. |
|
1959 |
Study
from Prof. Edgardo Carducci. |
|
1963 |
Obtained
a diploma of Rome Domer Music College, and then resumed at Zhu-hai
College in Hong Kong. |

1964 |
Completed
some solos: ‘Flowers along the path’, ‘Regrets over leave’, ‘A
poem for swallows’; Composed some sets of dance drama: ‘Yu the Great
regulating rivers’, ‘Girls of Gathering lotus’, and a chorus of
four movements - Three friends in cold winter. |

other sets of dance drama: ‘Emperor HUANG fighting Chi-you’, ‘
Dancing flowers’. |

chorus ‘Pipa song’, ‘The great Chinese people’. |

Accept
an opportunity offered by the ministry of education ROC on Taiwan to
give lectures for 2 months. Received
by President Gai-shi JIANG on 16th Sep. Back to Hong Kong and composed
‘Passing into oblivion’, ‘Miss
my hometown’, ‘Asking moon’, and an ensemble – A strong song. |

Han-chung Wan and started cooperating with him. |
